PAC PERFORMANCE HEADS TO CHRISTCHURCH NZ

Ten, such short years ago, the Brothers Rehayem, Rocky and George, crossed the Tasman to show NZ what Rotary performance could achieve with the 13B RX2 and 20B Rx3, that then were their flagships in the PAC PERFORMANCE stable.

In 2009 the PAC PERFORMANCE team once again committed to show NZ the most winning, highest achieving 20B package in the world, the MX6, along with customer, Damien McKern and his instantly recognizable, 20B powered RX2,GRUMP2.

The team arrived on the Thursday before the car show at Westpac Stadium in Christchurch, to indifferent, wet and miserable conditions, after one of the hottest Summers in Canterbury's history !

Friday was set-up day and preparation for the Saturday show, and the great assistance of Azhar and Brian from 4 & Rotary Promotions made for a seamless transition from container to centre stage. Azhar and his team from 4 & Rotary Promotions had taken great care to ensure the two days of 'show' and 'drags' would be successful and distanced from a rogue element mentality that had received much negative publicity on the streets of Christchurch in recent times.

Saturday was the show at Westpac Stadium and the crowds poured in to be greeted by one of the most diverse displays of vehicles ever gathered in the South Island. The standard and pride on display was simply stunning and a credit to all involved. The Mayor of Christchurch,Bob Parker, made an appearance, sat in the MX6, where he was shown the car and it's controls by Rocky Rehayem and presented with a PAC PERFORMANCE jacket, which he promptly donned and was seen in, on page two of the Sunday 'Press' newspaper !!

Sunday was 'raceday' and the day dawned with a clear blue sky.A record, well behaved crowd poured into Ruapuna Park, (Powerbuilt Raceway) to witness the PAC PERFORMANCE team at work. The MX6 found that the track and it's grip was difficult to adjust to with it's power levels and big tyres, but Damien's GRUMP2 with it's little 28x9 slicks seemed to be in it's element and put on a massive 'smoke display' that an appreciative crowd rewarded with claps, cheers and wolf-whistles. Three lucky passengers were rewarded with full 1/4 mile passes, two of which were 8 second passes and the little green RX2,(with teeth) performed 6 passes on the day with a best of 8.74@164mph, very respectable considering the grip levels and short run-off area.

Not to be outdone, George performed some monster burn-outs in the MX6 and recorded the fastest pass of the day with an 8.60@150mph, shutting off at 1,000ft and pulling the 'chutes early. No world records were going to fall, but the people of the South Island were treated to the best and most consistent Rotary team in the world, and showed their appreciation by turning up in record numbers.

All in all, a very successful and enjoyable exercise by the PAC team, with the resulting goodwill and impression left, simply by making the trip, inestimable in local terms !! This may not be the last time the South Island of NZ witnesses PAC PERFORMANCE at work and play !!
