May 1st,2nd and 3rd represent Autumn in all its glory, and perfect conditions for Drag-racing.So it would be at WISD for the Nitro Champs and a trifecta of success for the PAC team.

Friday dawned clear,cool and crisp for the first of three qualifiers for the 5 PAC PERFORMANCE starters in Super Compact,Rodney Rehayem,CC/SM,Ivan Skaramuca, BB/SC, George Rehayem, BB/SC, George Marcevski, CC/SC and Damien McKern,AA/OM.

Also present for the PAC team were John and Russell Archer in the immaculate RX4 Coupe,running in Super Street !! A 10.84 second pass from the Archer team put them under the 11.00 second cut-off for the class and would ultimately see them excluded from taking part in eliminations after 2nd and 3rd qualifiers inside the 11.00 second zone !! Although disappointed at the ruling,the Archer Team have committed to return and fight another day. A big thank you must also go out to the team for their gracious generosity in providing personnel and hardware for the adjacent McKern Team !!!

Rodney's car was little short of a sensation in both looks and results after untold hours in the lead-up to the event to re-construct it after it's new team livery paint sheme !! This dedication was to be rewarded with 'Best Engineered' of the event,the first of three major rewards for the little RX3.

After three rounds of qualifying on the Friday,the PAC team finished with Rodney,(top qualifier,and the 2nd of his rewards for the weekend) with a 7.44 second pass,some -0.552 under his index. Ivan,(following up on his world record-setting performance of 7.12@190mph,the previous weekend in testing) 3rd fastest qualifier with a 7.13,-0.216 under the index,followed by Damien McKern in 8th,George Marcevski in his 'cranky' RX3 Coupe,EAT20B,9th,and George Rehayem,10th in the MX6.

Saturday was to allow 1 more qualifier and first round of eliminations,held up for a considerable period of time by a major oil-down.The 4th qualifier was largely unremarkable,apart from George Marcevski,fighting both an ill-handling little car and a heavy cold !! George's skills in 'taming the beast',were spectacular,to say the least !!!

First round eliminations would see Rodney through to the 2nd round on a Bye,Ivan,George Rehayem and Damien through,but George Marcevski out after an amazing 7.64@173.61mph pass !!! Several of the heavy hitters were eliminated in the first round and would play no further part in proceedings.

Sunday and finals !! In the 2nd round of eliminations,Damien would be gifted with a Bye into the 3rd round,while Rodney would account for Brother George after a red light lit the MX6's lane and Joe Signorelli would put Ivan on the trailer after a 'cheeky little cherry' from the beautiful cerise RX3 and another 7.1 second pass !!!

Round three would see 2 PAC cars face the starter,with Rodney up against the might of Joe's 2JZ powered Celica and Damien's brutal little RX2,GRUMP2 in battle with Dib Taouil in the 20B RX7.Rodney accounted for Joe with a great light and e.t.,while Damien despatched Dib with a better light and under index 8.22@170.11mph pass. This meant that the final would see two PAC cars,(both old school 4 doors) face off in the final,a dream result for the PAC team,and in reality,a 'win - win' situation !!

Final time, and PAC versus PAC !!! Damien knowing to beat Rodney he would have to out-react him,and in trying to do so,cut a -0.044 light leaving a glowing red on the tree!! Rodney had taken out the first major event for Super Compact as a Group II event and a Gold Christmas tree to proudly display at home and the third of his major achievements for the weekend.
This means that leading into the final round of the championship at the Winternationals at Willowbank in June,Damien has a handy points lead,with Rodney in second place !!!!
