19/03/14 RACE 4 REAL STREET MEET - SYDNEY DRAGWAY

With a forecast of rain it was a last minute decision for the team to head out to Sydney Dragway last night for the Race 4 Real Wednesday night street meet but with some unfinished business to take care of from last weekends Jamboree, Dom Perri, Eric Wolf and The Dentist were keen to take the risk and go for it, with Adam Warwar also heading out for some runs as well in his immaculate RX3.

The car that everyone has their eyes on at the moment is of course 'GODRX2', the sexy silver coupe on the brink of cracking into the eights which is a massive achievement for a regularly driven street car.

After the bad weather saw Dom retire early at Jambo with a best of 9.16@147 for the day, Dom was keen as mustard to get back on the track sooner rather than later to give it another crack and right off the trailer he didn't hold back. His first pass of the night saw Dom rocket down the strip, wheels-up for a 9.02@149.99 which is a new PB for the car. He then backed that up with a 9.053@146 and a 9.11@145, all so very close to that eight it's not even funny anymore...!

Eric Wolf was looking to make up for his less-than-ideal weekend at Jambo and with the gremlins sorted, we were all keen to see him follow in Doms footsteps and improve on his PB. Not only did Eric improve his previous best 9.9 second ET, he smashed it out of the park, running a pair of nine-fifties before going even faster again with two nine-forties, the best of the night being a 9.42@142.

What makes this even more impressive is the fact that these times are run with full street interior, quiet as a mouse street exhaust and tiny 24 inch slicks squeezed under factory wheel arches... A feat that at first, we were unsure was possible but alas it just goes to prove that with the right combo and coaching that the sky's the limit! Oh and did we mention he drove the car to the track and home after the meet...

It may not be a 'street car' but we were lucky enough to sneak 'The Dentist' and his 13B RX3 in for a few runs and while now full passes were achieved on the night due to the car overpowering the track, the car did record its best ever first half increments including a blistering 1.09 60-foot time! On a mid week street meet track surface....Just crazy! That six second pass is just around the corner for The Dentist!

Adam Warwar joined the boys in his mini-tubbed streeter. This immaculate RX3 may not be packing as much punch as the other Pac cars racing that night but it still performed, delivering a 10.1@131 early on before Adam also nocked out a new PB of 9.81@134.99. And then just like Eric, Adam changed out of his race suit and cruised home... Because street cars!

Big thanks to Cackling Pipes for the photos from the night!
