2021 SYDNEY JAMBOREE WRAP-UP

Saturday's Sydney Jamboree event was a day of highs & lows for the Pac Performance crew, with 13 cars racing in most classes across the course of the day along with a stunning pair of streeters on display in the Show N Shine we had our hands full but honestly, we wouldn't have it any other way!

Kicking things off at the top, after months of testing, adjusting & tuning the 'La Ayre' RX8, the car finally began to play ball with us & what A time for it to finally come around than in front of a great Jambo crowd...

Heading into the business end of the event, Rodney staged up against The Micks Motorsport S15 before sling-shotting out of the hole & down the strip to a new Aus 13B record of 6.48@194 with the chutes out early. Obviously this was met with much excitement from the team & the crowd, the crew over the moon that their efforts were rewarded in the end!

We saw the 1st 200MPH radial rotary pass at the event when Andrew Zada rocketed down the quarter to the tune of a 7.03@201 pass in PAC275 - An absolutely insane result from a street driven RX3 and even more crazy to think that the cars next pass looked to be even quicker again but a time board malfunction meant no time card... Bugger!

Fellow J275 racer Kevin Awad also came away from the event with a new PB in his 20B RX8 despite fighting traction issues for much of the day. A 7.14@187 PB time slip was certainly welcomed after a short break from racing and we're sure to see Kevin out again soon keeping Andrew on his toes.

After 12 months of fighting various gremlins, we saw the Queen Street Group's 20B BMW put down an impressive 6.66@204mph run in the afternoon - A positive step forward for the car which has everyone involved excited for what's to come, so be sure to keep an eye on that one!

The small tyre streeters were also out in force on the day, both PAC747 & PSYC07 doing extremely well on the day, running a number of solid passes throughout the day. They saved the best ‘till last though with both cars dropping solid PBs during elimination.

Moeyy reaffirmed PAC747’s position as the quickest rotary on a 225 radial with an 8.63@157 while Peter followed suit in PSYC07 with an identical 8.63@157 run! The icing on the cake for both car was seeing both of them drive home after the event in true street car style!

Making the change to an automatic transmission recently, Lee Docherty put down his first full track pass in the MX5 since switching to an automatic trans - a solid 7.66@168 that really sets the scene for what's to come from this car moving forward.

Jay Sadek continued to impress & put on a show for the crowd in his 20B Pro Turbo RX3, running a string of easy 6.7 & 6.6-second passes.

Damien McKern brought his angry RX2 out with its fresh Billet By Pac 20B heart and ran a string of easy 8s, with a best of 8.46@166 for the day.

Emmanuel and his iconic GADGET RX3 were on a mission all day running several wheels-up 7-second passes. having a load of fun in the car as usual, Emmanuel made it all the way to the finals and took out 2nd place in Modified 10.5.

Representing Pac performance in the Show n Shine, Abbas & Ali collected a billet 'J' trophy each, with 'RX2KNG' scoring 'Best Rotary Engine Bay' & 'WORM' scoring '2nd Place Overall'

Unfortunately, it wasn't all good luck for our team on the day... Moving into the pointy end of the event we saw Mario have a devastating accident in the top end of the track, the car getting out of shape past time board & rolling several times before hitting the wall, narrowly missing the car in the opposite lane.

Thankfully the cars roll cage & all the safety gear did its job and Mario was able to walk away from the wreckage & join us back in the pits later that night after getting the all-clear from the on-site paramedics.

That's racing though and we all know the risks involved when we push these cars to the absolute limit. We're very thankful for the quick action of the Sydney Dragway safety crew who jumped to action in a flash & got Mario out of the car safely.

We want to send out a huge thank you to everyone who came out to supports our team & racers on the day and stop by the merch stand, our sponsors who help us keep taking these cars to the next level & also thank you to Colin, Kelly and the whole Jamboree team for all their hard work and dedication to bring us these events!

We've still got a heap of photos & videos to go through and post up so be sure to keep an eye on our Facebook page & Youtube channel!
