The late model AMG series Mercedes are well known for producing some solid horsepower straight out of the box, the new Bi-Turbo models like this E63 here especially; the tough, yet highly-refined 5.5L direct injected twin turbo V8 producing a claimed 550 engine hp and 531 lb-ft of torque out of the box.
While for most people this kind of performance (3.5 sec 0-60MPH) would be more than adequate for most, there are a few Merc owners out there like this one that want that little bit more but don't want to start adding new parts or visibly and audibly changing the car, that's where the 'Flash Tune' comes into play...
Utilising specific tuning software and our Mainline 4WD dyno we're able to tweak the cars tune to increase power and torque substantially, all without lifting so much as a spanner.
When this customer's stock-standard E63 AMG was strapped onto the dyno it put down a base run of 472rwhp (347kW). After a few hours of tuning via the laptop computer, moving a few numbers around that power increased substantially to 541rwhp (398kW), an impressive 69hp (50kW) increase at the rear wheels!
While this alone is impressive take a look at that power curve...From almost as soon as the throttle is hit, all the way through the mid-range the increase is something that is going to put a smile on your face every time you drive the car; it literally wakes the car up and changes how the it feels on the road!
At one point in the run, right in the meat of the power range we see an increase of over 100rwhp!
We're excited to add flash tuning to our list of services we are able to offer our customers, we're now able to flash tune most Mercedes models with other makes and models being added to the list in the near future.
