REINCARNATED - 'THE GODFATHER' RX3 IS BACK!

In a feat no one thought was possible; Sam Sadek’s RX3 has been incredibly repaired and rebuilt after a major accident at the APSA Shootout back in May of this year.
See details and the video clip of the crash on our earlier post here
As you can see here in this photo of the aftermath, taken a few days after the accident; the body shell was in many people’s eyes, good for nothing but scrap. Well, we were all wrong…

Determined to get the car back on the track ASAP, Sam called upon his good mate Steve to work his magic on the bodywork.

“ I've known Steve for over 20 years and when it comes to panel work he’s my go-to guy and even though he’s retired now the moment he heard about the accident he called me up wanting to take on the job.” – Sam Sadek

After working on the car non-stop for four weeks straight, Steve managed to amazingly massage the damaged panels back to their original form.

Even certain sections that looked un-repairable were brought back into line by Steve.

Unbelievably, the roof, radiator support and front panels (bonnet, guards and nose cone) are the only parts of the bodywork that were replaced rather than repaired.

Even this mangled rear quarter panel was saved; testament to Steve’s amazing ability.

And no, it’s NOT full of bog; each panel having been panel-beaten by hand and file-finished by Steve to as close to original as you could get.

Even the original tin work was repaired where needed an painted up before being re-fitted to the car. The chassis which was not effected by the accident also copped a fresh coat of paint.

Speaking of paint,  as you can see Sam has chosen to ditch the red and go back to white, the colour the car originally wore upon its debut.

The guys behind this silky-smooth duco are none other than the paint masters Danny Makdessi and Dez Knight from Custom Bodyworks

As always Danny and Dez have turned out a stunning job with the cars duco, Dez looking after the prep work and Danny laying the paint work.

"The guys at Custom Bodyworks have done an awesome job and I couldn't be happier with the result. It looks tops!"
With the car now back in the Pac Performance workshop work will begin straight away to get the cars 20B running gear sorted with Sam hopeful to have the car ready to compete at the upcoming Queensland Jamboree in late September.
"I'm keen-as to get the car back onto the track asap and even though there's a lot of work ahead and time is against us, if anyone can pull it off it's the crew at Pac Performance! We'll just have to see how we go in the end." - Sam
