UNDER CONSTRUCTION - TUBBED 1300 WAGON

Father of the century status surely should be awarded to James Cooper ,who is planning and financing this awesome build for his young son. The car itself, a 1300 Wagon was purchased as a rolling shell. A solid base for a project it seemed at first, supposedly all ready to drop in running gear and go but once at PAC HQ to get the job done there was a few things that needed to be taken care of and re-worked before the project could get fully underway.

First things first the transmission tunnel that was in the car, a fabricated job was way too small. In fact it was almost as small as the factory tunnel; the rear plate on the motor fouling on the firewall when mounted up...

This was quickly taken care of by our in-house fabricator Ross, who with a dummy block and box set up went about cutting out the old tin work, enlarging the opening, bending up a new tunnel and welding it all into place. Unfortunately the nice new paintwork in the engine bay required touching up but Danny and the team at Custom Bodyworks made short work of that and you wouldn't even tell looking at it now as you'll see in the images below.

Inside the car the front foot well area and tunnel have been covered in Dynamat to help keep out heat and road noise. A process carried out on all of our street car builds now which makes the cabin area a much more enjoyable place to be when cruising.

Not wanting to reply on 40-plus year old wiring, the car has also been treated to a full re-wire from front to back, courtesy of our in-house auto electrician Scibbo.

While he was at it anew Microtech LT10c ECU was also installed, the brains behind the new injected 13B Bridgeport engine combo.

All wiring in the car has been carefully planned out and tucked away out of sight which makes for a much neater engine bay and knowing that electrical issues from old wiring or corroded contacts aren't going to ruin the fun is great for piece of mind.

Engine bay-wise this beast will be as neat as they come once finished, with hidden wiring, braided fuel lines, powder coating and all new braking and clutch hydraulics and lines throughout. What's with the holes in the inner guards you may ask...? Well the plan is to make the switch to forced induction later on once the driver is ready.

Fueling for the angry 13B is taken care of by one of our Fuel Injection packages with a 50mm IDA Throttle body setup and four 550cc injectors. A combo that not only helps the naturally aspirated engine reach its full power potential but also delivers awesome drivabilty and reliability!

Stay tuned for more updates on this build as work continues...
