Coming to Pac HQ in a rather sad state as a no-goer with a Miata twin cam piston engine and home-job turbo upgrade sitting between the strut towers, this coupe is a real rags to riches story, like many of our ground-up builds are... Over the last 4 years the car has been painstakingly transformed into the absolute stunner you see here, including removal of that dirty piston engine & replacing it with a much more suiting, tried & tested FD 13BT/C4 combo. With the coupe already having so much charm about it, the only modifications carried out were the fitment of some mini tubs and stretching of the rear quarters & front guards to better accommodate the new colour-matched 19" OM Simmons - other that that, she's all pretty much factory with the addition of the Savanna front lip & tail lights, and of course the custom pear grey paintwork which suits the shape to a tea!
'CRAK3R' RX3 COUPE
The driveline providing the motivation is one of our FD 13BT Street packages, matched up with a Garrett G42 turbo kit which is a match made in heaven for the street, especially with a paddle-shifter C4 transmission bolted on the back! Looking in the engine bay you'll no doubt notice all the usual additions, including the Premium Cooling Package & 4" Intercooler, 120A alternator & multi-rib pulley setup & Electric DBW Throttle, mounted to a factory FD top hat.
Hidden underneath is our FD E85 Fuel Rail & Injector package, the end-point the custom fuel system built for the car which includes our High-capacity Bolt-In Fuel tank with triple Walbro in-tank pumps & full Speedflow 550-series press-fit fittings & lines throughout. Running in-line we also have a Billet By Pac Filter, Flex Sensor & Turbosmart FPR2000 fuel reg.
Under the car is, as you'd imagine, is just as impressive with the before-mentioned C4 trans connected to a built 9-inch diff, running 35 spline billet axles & tru-trac setup. braking-wise, we have Wilwood 4-Piston setup at all four corners for impressive stopping power, while on the suspension side of things, there's adjustable BC Coilovers up front and re-set & strengthened leaf springs out the back with a set of KYB Shocks - The result is a car that not only performs well in the go department, but also stops & handles mountains above how Mazda ever envisioned these cars to, with crazy reliability to boot!
Open the doors to this machine and you're greeted to a scene more like something you'd see in the latest, multi-million dollar supercar release... We're talking several hides of high-grade leather draped over Recaro Sportster CS front seats, a custom-made rear bench and door trims, combined with the crazy-cool MoTeC C1212 digital display. Keen eyes will also spot the custom digital display replacing the factory center console gauges - including the analogue-look clock... Moving your eyes down you'll see the PCS trans-Control Key pad that works in unison with the paddle-shift setup hiding behind the Momo wheel, along with a button for the electric handbrake and power window switches... yes, it's 2023 and this bad boy has power windows!
