16/8/14 TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP SYDNEY DRAGWAY

With mother nature set to deliver torrential rain across the whole weekend it looked like Round 6 of the Atura Track Championship at Sydney Dragway would be a washout but luckily the precipitation held off long enough for the boys to get a few runs in. Unfortunately though, track conditions we not on the favorable side resulting in some sketchy start line antics...

Jim Toskas' wicked RX3 coupe always puts on a show, often carrying the front wheels high to near half track, however this meet Jim struggled to get the tyres to bite off the line, seeing the car get out of shape on its first pass of the day and getting some two wheel action of another kind as you can see in this clip...

Even With the less than ideal conditions Jim did manage a slippery 8.25@163 pass next time out before the rain came.

Fresh from his 9.2 PB last meeting, Russel Archer returned to Sydney Dragway looking to back it up. Putting 500+rwhp through the little 26x8.5 slicks is always going to pose a challenge and at this meet the track just didn't seem to want to play ball.

Even with Rocky pulling start line RPM and power out of the setup the tyres just did not want to bite.

Even with the poor launches Russel did manage to run a very respectable 9.54 followed by a 9.71, both at a consistent 142 mph.

Lee Docherty's day didn't go quite to plan either with his 13BT MX5 having a close call with the Sydney Dragway wall in the burnout.

This trend then continued onto his run where the car once again headed towards the right side wall, driving through tyre shake. One positive from the day though was the car jumping out of the hole for a solid 1.10 sixty-foot.

Lee and his crew now have their eyes set on Jamboree where the car will be battling it out in the Pro Compact class. We wish them the best of luck!
