What a crazy few days Brisbane Jamboree was this year for the Pac crew!! The uncertainty with the weather certainly had us stressing a bit, but what a turnaround it was for the main event on the weekend - from pouring rain to bright blue skies and sunshine throughout the weekend!
On the track, we faced a lot of challenges over the weekend, unfortunately, and while there were a few highlights, they weren't enough to get across the line and bring home any class wins...
What we did see was initial test passes for the RX9, now running the new 7-speed liberty look extremely promising, with the car running a pair of easy 6.3s, PB'ing in the 1/8th and to half track on our first run on Friday.
Jason Both also PB'd in 'The Joker', running a 6.35@123 racing side-by-side against George. No doubt the potential bragging rights giving Botha the extra motivation he needed to pip George on the tree!!
Jay Sadek also put down a very solid 6.4 & a 6.35@216 in Rnd2 on Sunday, much to the elation of the Sadek Racing crew!
Things were looking promising for Peter racing the 'PACJNR' RX3 in Pro Compact until disaster struck on Saturday afternoon when a rear end failure saw one of the tyres exit stage left spectacularly...
Thankfully, Peter was unhurt and miraculously managed to keep the car off the wall!
Unfortunately, this put the car out of the race, but surprisingly, the damage is not as bad as it looks and we're sure the car will be all sorted and back out racing soon.
Sam Sadek worked hard to put on a show for the Willowbank crowd in his quad rotor Camaro; however, some ongoing issues still need to be ironed out and the team decided it was best to park the car on Sunday and save it for another day. Rest assured, the potential and the data is there for this car to make some BIG waves once the boys get it sorted!!
Peter Finianos looked to forget his traction back in Sydney, with the 20B RX8 just not being able to put the power down
Fellow radial racer Dom Perri made his Brisbane Jamboree debut in GODRX2 and while a little off the pace, things looked promising with a pair of 8.9s under his belt heading into eliminations. Unfortunately, a dial-in error in Rnd1 saw Dom's Jambo ended prematurely.
Things weren't much better for Lee and his crazy 13B Miata, with some race day gremlins causing havoc and preventing him from putting down any runs representative of the cars potential.
That's racing though, and things don't always go to plan!
We still had an absolute ball, and loved seeing and interacting with our fans and followers in the pits, so a huge THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by for a chat and to pick up some merchandise. It was awesome to see so much Pac merch being worn around the track and all the Pac umbrellas filling the grandstands
Another awesome surprise for the Pac team was Rocky being recognised on Sunday as a 'Jamboree Icon'; an amazing honour awarded to Rocky by the Jamboree team, alongside four other legends, including the man who started it all, Ray Box!!
Thank you to the Jamboree & Willowbank Raceway | Drag Racing's Finest team, our crews and extended team for another cracking effort, and a BIG thank you also to our sponsors Garrett - Advancing Motion VP Racing Fuels Australia MoTeC, Frango Charcoal Chicken Connexion Concepts & Jetpac Dezign for your ongoing support!
