Battling the heat and a few hiccups along the way, our Sydney Jamboree experience for 2025 was a challenging one to say the least, but this didn't stop the boys from making the most of the day, running some solid passes and having plenty of fun along the way!
Running strong in the Pro Compact class, Peter steered the 'PACJNR' RX3 to a handful of low 7-second passes to position himself alongside the front-runners in the highly-competitive class, alongside Anthony Daquino in his full chassis RX3. While a grand effort was made to push through into the finals, it unfortunately wasn't to be on the night, despite having 2 wins with Peter's final 7.01@199 pass not quite quick enough to make the final match up in the Chicago Shootout format...
That run also unfortunately saw the car head into the sand trap at speed due to the chute not deploying. A close call but thankfully both Peter and the car came away unscathed.
Scorching track temps are not friendly for the radial cars, but after making some critical suspension adjustments after testing on Friday, Peter Finianos and his crew managed to get their 20B RX8 down the track relatively cleanly throughout the day racing in the J275 class, although at a slower pace than usual... Not that 7-eighties are anything to be ashamed of! With temps dropping slightly heading into the evening, an attempt to squeeze out a bit more power fell short with the car bombing the tyres off the line, thus seeing Peter bow out of the finals race.
As always, Jay Sadek and his Mazda3 'Saloupa' was looking strong racing in Factory Xtreme, but his efforts were unfortunately cut short, loosing 2nd gear in qualifying and unable to continue racing.
It was a similar story for George in the RX9, with a mechanical issue causing dramas for the team, leading to the decision being made to pull the pin rather than thrash around in the heat and possibly hurt the engine.
One racer that ended the event on a high though was Anthony Daquino, blasting out a new 6.60@212 PB in his RX3 and making it into the finals for Pro Compact where he took home runner-up. An awesome effort and big PB for the team!
In the Show & Shine, things went more in our favour with a trio of Pac rides scoring trophies. PAC747 scored 'Best Interior', WLD20B awarded 'Best Mazda' and CMR13B taking home 'Best Wagon/Ute' - a first of many awards we're sure for Chanelle's awesome Renesis-powered 808 Wagon!
Overall, the whole Pac team had fun and everyone went home safe and sound which we can all be thankful for! We would like to send out a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who came out and braved the heat to cheer the boys on, the Jamboree and Sydney Dragway crews for putting on the event and having us, as well as our sponsors for their continued support!
