ANOTHER PODIUM FINISH FOR THE INGRAM BROTHERS RX7

As expected, the massive combined state & national grid racing at the Precision National Sports Sedan 'Master Blast' round was out of this world, pitting the best of NSW vs. the best of the rest, head-to-head and delivering some of the best racing we've seen this season!

Both Peter & Matthew, as well as the whole Ingram Racing Team we're pumped to be able to get on track and mix it up with the best of the best & show them the team means business and with so many experienced racers and proven cars running against them, it would be an awesome guage at just how the cars & drivers are performing and progressing.

Both drivers put in work in qualifying on Saturday morning, pushing their cars and the 20B powerplants hard to try and secure a strat at the front of the grid for race 1.

Both Peter & Matthew did well, putting down some clean laps that saw the boys placed in the middle of the pack, Peter in the RX7 running a 1:29.3739 best lap sitting in the #5 spot, while Matthew found himself in the #11 spot with a 1:32.8876.

With such a large group of cars all muscling it out through the first part of the track to position themselves within the field, it was a tense and cautious start for everyone in Race 1. Thankfully for everyone, things went fairly smoothly and the boys were able to find their grove and focus on working their way up through the field.

It was obvious early on that the team would have their work cut out for them with no one wanting to give up their position easily and after a grueling first session, the boys sat in the #6 (Peter) & #9 (Matthew) spots, ready for race 2 on Sunday morning.

Race 2 would see things start to get real serious with all racers stepping things up a notch as we headed towards the business end of the round and it was clear early on that no one was keen on giving up even an inch of space to their competitors, and this showed with several close calls & plenty of bump and grind happening which saw the safety car make an appearance, bunching the field up and causing all sortes of dramas.

While drivers are instructed to maintain their current position under the safety car, with such a large group being corralled at once, many drivers in the middle group, including Matthew in the RX8 found themselves mixed up which unfortunately saw the small group of cars penalised 15 seconds as a result. Thankfully Peter was able to avoid the dramas, going on to place 4th with a solid 1:31.6770. Matthew would end Race 2 in 10th position however, with the penalty set, this would see him have to drop back several positions and start the all-important Race 3 at 17th spot.

Having plenty of experience weaving their way through a tight field in the past, the boys weren't too fazed and still in great spirits as always going into the last race of the weekend. Unfortunately, though things didn't get any easier for Matthew who found himself in some trouble on turn 1 on the first lap - the car loosing traction on the cold tyres and spinning out.

Peter managed to get out to a great start in the RX7, keeping pace with the front of the field throughout the session and really putting the pressure on the front runners! Keeping his lines clean through the turns and letting the angry 20B eat down the straight, Peter climbed into the #2 spot in the tightly-packed front group and managed to stay there 'till the end, finishing with a 1:34.8227, just behind 1st place Tony Ricciardello in the Alpha Romeo with a 1:34.8061.

Not to be discouraged, Matthew worked hard to claw his way back into the group, doing exceptionally well to push his way up to 12th spot from the back of the field!

After all the prep work & a huge weekend of racing, the team was wrapped with their efforts! To come away with a spot on the podium in such a large and competitive field, racing against legendary cars & drivers is a great accomplishment and a good sign that things are definitely heading in the right direction!

Heading home with the P2 trophy for the National Round & P1 for the NSW competition is a feat that the boys won't forget any time soon! A Huge congratulations to Peter, Matthew & the whole Ingrams Brothers Racing Crew & thanks for letting us be a part of it all -we're certain there is even bigger things ahead for this team and partnership!
