FULL THROTTLE FRIDAY 25/10/13 - SYDNEY DRAGWAY

The much anticipated Full Throttle Friday meets at Sydney Dragway have returned and it could not have come sooner for the team at Pac Performance. With the day time weather heating up the, cool afternoon/night time ambient temps are very much welcomed by all racers; hence why the Friday meetings have become so popular.

Andrew Toet brought his super-clean coupe all the way up from the ACT to give it a run, looking to better his 9.2 PB. The 13BT street car started the night off with a solid 9.6-second pass before going on the blast out another four nine-second passes and some impressive wheel stands, one after the other with a best of 9.40@138 for the night.

All of this is done with full street exhaust, full interior front and back and pump E85 EFlex fuel. Rumours are Andrew will soon be stepping things up with a fresh Bridgeport engine combo that should see the car hunting for an eight-second time slip in the near future...

Another RX3 that was putting on a show was Andrew 'The Dentist' Maratos' coupe.

Straight off the trailer Andrew was on a mission, re-setting his own Australian 13B ET record with a new 7.09@189 PB, much to the elation of the crew!A leak in the exhaust manifold saw Andrew and his crew spending time on the tools for some time after that but the car returned out later that night for a skatey 7.33@180, taking out a few timing markers in the deep end.

James Cannavo continued to charge the black-top in his angry RB25/30-powered R33 Skyline. It looked like it was going to be another good night for James as he put down yet another flat nine-second pass off the trailer...

However, ANDRA stewards pulled the car up for not yet having an engine nappy (lower engine containment device) fitted, which is a requirement for cars running quicker than 8.99. Obviously disappointed James and his crew had to call it a night early but he has informed us he'll be back with more than just a nappy next time....So look out!

When you jam a 600+hp 13B into a little Mazda 1000 ute you're going to have a good time and that's exactly what the Gibbo Brothers have when they bring out 'YAMUMA'

Unlike a lot of big power street cars these days this little ute still runs a H-pattern manual box rather than an auto and can be a handful to drive as you can see in this clip, running into the nine-eighties - wheels up!

The team had been hanging all week to get the Mazda6 SP out on the track to get some testing under the belt for the Australian Nationals this coming weekend and so it was all-steam ahead until a broken starter motor saw the car unable to start for it's first pass.

Once repaired the boys brought her back out, fired up the big 20B and George blazed the tyres long and hard just for good measure...As he does every time!

On this pass the car shot out of the hole like never before, recording its best EVER half track increments, including another blistering .96 sixty-foot time... Check out the video and you'll see exactly what we mean; like a bullet out of a gun barrel!!

Unfortunately as the video also shows, trouble unfolded in the deep-end seeing the car tag the wall hard on the right side. The cause...Yet another broken gearbox extension housing and parachutes that did not want to deploy when prompted....

These issues along with a brake lock up saw the car become very unsettled at 190+mph and well, the rest is as you see it...

As usual though, the Pac Performance team are not letting this hold them back from racing at the Nationals, with repairs already well under way as you can see. For more pics of the progress so far, you can check out the write-up here

A very eventful evening was had by all and we've definitely got a big next few days ahead...

Thank you to the Cackling Pipes team for the track shots
