As expected, Grudge Kings delivered plenty of excitement & on-track action on Saturday, and combined with Friday's test meet, with several solid PBs put down as well a pair of Pac cars making it into the finals!
Peter continues to improve in bounds on the track in 'PACJNR', knocking out a BIG PB in testing on Friday, dipping into the 6s for the first time with a 6.87@198!
While Peter struggled to get down the track for most of the event, due to some clutch issues, he still managed an impressive 7.11@197 in the evening before being paired up with Daniel Saldatic in his immaculate R100 for an all-rotor final of Pro Modified.
Unfortunately, what would have been a great race wasn't to be, with Peter getting out of shape early on and having to abort the run.
Another car & driver that continues to impress, Lee Docherty and his crazy Miata backed up his Jambo performance in a big way, running a blistering 7.09@199 off the trailer to start the day, top qualifying in the Outlaw class! Lee then proceeded to turn around and put down another clean 7.19@192 pass, even with having the front windscreen implode into the cabin during the run
While this could have ended the event for Lee, his crew put in a mammoth effort to source material, cut and install a new screen, managing to get the car back out in time for the 2nd round of racing... While Lee didn't make it through to the finals, another 7.195@192 run in the 3rd round proved just how consistent this car can be, and that a 6-second pass at 200mph+ is a big possibility for this purple piston eater!
Leaving jaws on the floor is something Jason Both is well known for when he's out on the track, and his efforts at Grudge Kings were certainly no different when he put down a flying 6.56 and a crazy 225mph in 'The Joker' Mazda6, putting the car up there with the Worlds fastest.
Sam Sadek made his much anticipated race debut with his new 26B Camaro, racing alongside Jason in the Pro Elite class. With limited track time, the boys are still trying to get their head around the all-new car and combo & work out a power management strategy to tame the beast enough to get it down the track.
While challenging, Sam did manage to get down the track for a lazy 6.47@214 with only a taste of the available HP - looking like he was on a Sunday cruise.
Rookie racer Marc Gable brought his streeter 'KLROTA' out for the event with a fresh new combo & had a ball racing in the Small Tyre Fighter class! Marc came out strong running a solid 9.16@146 on his first pass of the day, backing it up in the evening with an 9.45@146 - an 8-second car in the making for sure!
For the big power radial cars, unfortunately, it seems the track just wasn’t there with many racers struggling to put the power down, including Peter in the RX8 & Russel with his small tyre RX4. While Russel did manage an 8.9 pass to start the day, a start line issue saw his best pass of the day go without a time recorded which was a huge disappointment for the team as it looked to be a VERY quick pass
Peter unfortunately just could not get the power to the ground all day in the RX8 and although he was not able to put down a solid pass, with only 4 cars running in the R275 class, he still managed to get into the finals, once again matched up with Cam Riley in his turbo V8 Commodore - a match that usually delivers some awesome side-by-side action. Off the line things looked positive for a good run, but yet again the RX8 got loose at mid track and that was it for the night....
All up, the boys had a great day and all the cars and drivers ended the night in one piece and ready to chow down on some BBQ as always

Once again we would like to thank the Grudge kings & Sydney Dragway teams for putting on another awesome event, and to all of our fans and followers, who came out to show their support at the track, and online, we hope you enjoyed the show!
