PAC PERFORMANCE 2015 QLD JAMBOREE RECAP

Regarded as the pinnacle of Sport Compact racing in Australia the QLD Jamboree certainly didn't disappoint with a large number of racer's ready to hit the track for the one day event.
In total we had 7 car's representing the Pac Performance team on the day with this Jamboree being a brand new experience for a few of the boys racing.

Unfortunately the weather wasn't kind and the festivities were cut short with most of the team only getting 2 passes in before the event was postponed to the following day due to heavy rainfall.
With most of the team having prior commitments back home and no confirmation the weather would clear up the decision was made to head home as scheduled the following day.

Arriving in Queensland on Friday afternoon we headed straight out to the track to unload the car in the hopes to get a test pass in with the Mazda 6.
After going through scrutineering late in the afternoon we were on the track soon after ready to run.

The team took the opportunity to make a shakedown pass and bed-in the new tyres.

The Archer's were out at the track earlier in the day on the Friday and got a few test passes in with their RX4 coupe to make sure the car was ready for the following day's racing.
With the car running consistently in the 9's over the weekend they finished with a best pass of 9.44 @135.

After wanting to compete in a QLD Jamboree for over 15 years, Luke Philps in his gorgeous R100 'STUTTA' was keen to hit the track. Blasting out of the hole for his first pass Luke passed the traps at an impressive 8.925 @151 which would end up being his fastest pass for the day.

Another QLD Jamboree debutante, Shane Eberhart and the X-Trim team were out in their RX7 'TRY12A' looking to run a new PB and have a great day of racing in the Street 289 class.
Shane had 2 passes on the day both in the 9.7's with his fastest mph a 137.

Jay Sadek was also experiencing the QLD Jamboree for the first time as a driver in his RX4 Sedan.
Complete with 'P' plates Jay was ready to mix it up on the track and see how fast he could get his car down the quarter with the new transbrake installed.
First pass Jay stuck with the foot brake launch but spun hard off the line to a 10.9.
Second pass Jay was on the transbrake but again spun the wheels off the line this time to a 10.1 @ 136.

Simon Sadek had his RX3 Sedan back at Jamboree after a short break from racing, managing a best of 9.72 @ 104. We look forward to seeing Simon at the track more and continue dropping the numbers.

Running his gorgeous RX3 coupe for the first time at Jamboree in Pro Compact, Steven Barnett was looking to have a good showing with his confidence levels growing with more seat time in the car.
This wasn't to be unfortunately with the coupe launching hard to the right first pass and breaking a rear sway bar arm. The issue however wasn't picked up until after the second pass when the car pulled hard to the right again.  Back in the pits the team removed the back wheels and quickly found the problem. With the generosity of fellow racer's they were able to source the part and get it fixed but unfortunately the rain was starting to come down at this stage and racing was over for the day.

Seasoned racer Elia Hajjar was also out racing his RX3 coupe in the Pro Compact class looking to make an impact early.
First pass saw Elia lose traction of the start line and he ended up backing off early.
Elia's second launch was much better however the car got out of the groove early and he passed the traps at a lazy 7.58 @175.

George was looking to impress in the Mazda 6 after the car had been performing well in recent testing.
Unfortunately though the team would only get one pass in before they had to call it a day after a small electrical fire caused by the thermo fan started mid track.
Back in the pits the team stripped the car down to find the issue and the team set about repairing it. Late in the afternoon the car was back together and fired up but all to no avail as the rain had definitely set in and the event was postponed to the next day.

Not being able to attend the following day that was it for the team's QLD Jamboree experience until next year where will be back bigger and better than ever.

We would like to thank our fan's and also our great sponsor's Garrett, Turbosmart, Microtech, Castrol, Mainline Dynolog Dynamometer's and Custom Body Works for all of your continued support.

Hope to see you all at the Melbourne Jamboree on the 24th of October.
