The Ingram Brothers Racing crew returned to Sydney Motorsport Park on Saturday for Round 4 of the NSW Sports Sedans series, and what a cracker day of racing it was for the team!
Peter & Matthew headed into qualifying full of confidence and after some stellar laps from both car, we saw Matthew qualify #4 with a solid 1:31.2836 while Peter pulled out all the stops to come away with the #2 spot with a blistering 1:29.7346 lap, just 0:00.9815 behind the lead car.
Race 1 saw a #1 & #3 from the boys, Peter leading the way in the RX7 whilst also recording fastest lap & Matt closing out the podium not far behind.
Rolling around for Race #2 the team faced some issues, with the RX8 being pulled up by officials for an issue with his window net which saw the car miss the race, while Peter pulled the RX7 in after the warmup lap with smoke in the cabin... Thankfully, the cause was identified quickly as a leaking turbo oil feed & rectified however, Peter also missed the race which would mean both cars would start the final from the back of the grid.
The final race was simply EPIC, with both drivers pushing hard to battle their way through the field. Peter's efforts in the RX7 were best described by the NSW Sports Sedan media team stating "Pete was flying and under lights the RX7 bellowed fire like a banshee from the depths of hell...'
Both drivers sliced their way through the field, from the back all the way up to the #2 spot for Peter behind front-runner Shiels in the Fiat, and #4 for Matt in the RX8 - a top effort by both drivers & all involved!
Peter literally drove the wheels off the RX7 to finish 2nd as can be seen in the photo with flames out the exhaust while the brakes are lit up like hot coals in the fire, simply running out of tyres, & time in the end as the car recorded the fastest lap for the race
The boys will be back at SMSP for Round 5 on the 9/10 Sept which could see a combined round with the National teams which will be awesome to see go ahead!
