Project 500 Turbo RX8 Update - New Jatco 4-speed upgrade

Last time we featured the Project 500 Turbo RX8 we were reporting on the awesome power figures produced on the cars base tune and while we were all on a bit of a high from pushing out an easy 400+rwhp out of the Renesis 4-port 13B, it was unfortunately short-lived as once again we ran into gearbox dramas. See our previous Project 500 posts HERE

Despite the RX8 automatic (Now our 3rd box) being internally beefed up and fitted out with all the good gear it just couldn't cope with the power and punishment

To combat this issue once and for all we've decided to ditch the RX8 box and replace it with a built 4-speed Jatco overdrive automatic combo which should give the car the power handling and reliability of our Jatco 3-speed setups with the added benefit of the 4th gear overdrive.

After a bit of fiddling around getting the box mounted in the car and the shifter cable sorted the new gearbox is now in place. Unfortunately we're not able to utilise the factory shifter with the new gearbox as was originally planned however ditching the factory shifter is however it's a small price to pay in the search of reliability. And once finished off inside the sunken B&M Shifter will look Mickey Mouse poking out of the RX8 console.

We'll keep you posted on how things go with the new gearbox setup. Hopefully we can get this thing to the track real soon.
