In the days leading up to when the Powercruise event rolls into Sydney Motorsport there's a distinct 'Hype' that is felt here at the Pac Performance workshop. With so many of our customers being self confessed Powercruise 'Junkies' the anticipation leading up to PC weekend for these guys can only be compared to that of Christmas day for a child...
The day, or in some cases the night before, the car is cleaned, serviced, fueled up, new rear tyres are fitted and a sleepless night is had before the alarm clock goes off at the crack of dawn and you're on your way to the track, amped for the big day of tyre-frying and on-track shenanigans ahead!
With the event being such a draw card for performance car enthusiasts, customers even travel interstate to thrash their toys on the track. Damien McKern and his crew made the trek from Queensland with not one, but two cars; Damien's 20B RX7 streeter and crazy 7-second RX2 drag car.
Seeing the monster 20B RX2 racing on the strip is awesome in itself but even better is being able to cruise along side it while it's blazing tyres or even better, as our own media guy Jason can attest to, riding shot-gun for a happy-lap!
Being able to cruise along with your mates and do a bit of spirited driving without fear of being pulled over by the boys in blue offers entrants a great release.
And it's smiles all around whether you're the one steering or just going along for the ride!
When your street car puts out 1000+hp at the tyres it can sometimes get very tempting to give it some jandal and drop a smoke bomb on your local street but you've got to resist the urge.
Luckily for Jimmy Powercruise gives him that opportunity to just 'let loose'...
Powercruise also gives you another opportunity to test your cars setup and see the results of your latest round of mods.
Eric Wolf's RX3 had undergone a few select upgrades since his last thrash around the Sydney Motorsport track at the one day Powerplay event and although he had a ball at that event with the power he had then, with a bunch more horses to play with Eric had the time of his life!
pitty the same couldn't be said about his rear tyres though.....Oops...
Overall this years event was yet another hit with the Pac crew and the countdown has already begun 'till the next one!
