STREET MACHINE SUPERNATS - 19th & 20th Sept 2015

Last weekend saw the Street Machine Magazine Supernats celebrate its 21st birthday with a huge 2 day event of Drag Racing, Burnouts, Wheelstands, Go-to-Whoa and Corkscrew.

Competing in the drag racing we had Murat's 'MYTIME' RX3 sedan, Ibby's 'LOW09Z' RX3 sedan, Adam's 'ALLOUT' RX3 sedan, Sam's 'SADEK' RX3 coupe, Jay Sadek's RX4 sedan, Elia's RX3 coupe and Andrew Maratos' RX3 coupe as well as our Mazda 6 SP.

With the weather not being too kind on the first day the drag racing was pushed back to 1:30 which only left enough time for 2 qualifiers. The following day the weather was better in the morning and we were able to get a few more runs in.

Jay Sadek was looking for a good showing in his RX4 Sedan after running a new PB earlier in the week at the Wednesday night street meet. In his first qualifier we knew Jay meant business when he launched his car hard off the line to a huge wheelstand. Jay went on to run a best of 9.5 @139 for the weekend and made it all the way to the finals, unfortunately losing the last race with a red light.
We would like to congratulate Jay on this awesome achievement considering it was his first full race meet.

The 'ALLOUT' RX3 sedan of Adam Warwar made its return to the track after a short break and Adam was looking to hopefully run into the 8's having previously ran a 9.03 earlier this year. Unfortunately on his first launch Adam's diff let go suffering a hemisphere problem which caused it to only put power down to one wheel.

Making a return to the race track after a full rebuild was Ibby Awad's gorgeous 'LOW09Z' RX3 Sedan. On the first day of the event Ibby had fitted Mickey Thompson ET Drag tyres running a best of 9.58 @136, he returned the following day with Street Radials in the hope of making it onto our #PACSTREETKINGS leader board. With a very impressive 9.43 @144 Ibby earn't himself 4th place on our leader board.

Debuting at the drag strip was Murat in his 'MYTIME' RX3 sedan. Just like Ibby, Murat was also looking to make his way onto our #PACSTREETKINGS Leader board and after a few passes wheel spinning off the line the 'MYTIME' RX3 hooked up to run a 9.49 @144 securing 5th place on our leader board.

Sam 'The Godfather' Sadek was also at the track over the weekend racing his 'SADEK' RX3 coupe for the first time since owning it.
Before the event Sam had called out his son Jay after Jay had beat him in a race at Powerplay.
The pair were matched up to race in the second round of qualifying with the hopes that this would finally put an end to who's Street car is faster. Both car's left the line together but the power of Jay's RX4 proved too much for the RX3 with Jay passing the traps at 9.7 to his Dad's 10.4

Elia Hajjar was out looking to run a new pb at the event in his Hitek Steel Framing RX3 coupe but unfortunately his car was experiencing a few issues launching. Elia did however manage to run an impressive 7.26 @ 175.

Australia's fastest 13B was also out at Supernats looking for that elusive 6 second pass. Andrew 'The Dentist' Maratos had just fitted new tyres to his RX3 coupe earlier in the week hoping that would be the final piece needed to get there however his car had other idea's suffering an injector problem with the car not being able to make a full pass.

Our Mazda 6 SP was competing in the Outlaws Shootout which had a first prize on offer of $20,000 and the boys were looking to give it all they had. In the first qualifier we got off to a shaky start but still ran a 6.64 @ 207. This however would be our best pass of the weekend with the car having a few issues with the new clutch and an unsettled second gear.

Even though it wasn't the result we were after the boys still had a great weekend of racing and we would like to thank Ahmet, Sydney Dragway and the Supernats team for putting on such an awesome event.

We are now looking to hopefully have our car ready for this weeks Full Throttle Friday. Hope to see you there!
