THE POWER OF SOCIAL MEDIA PREVAILS

When the owner of this gorgeous RX2 coupe realised his car was stolen from his garage in the early hours of the morning on Wednesday, you could imagine he was beside himself.  He had not long had the car back after a full rebuild at our workshop, and to top it off the car was yet to be insured.

After contacting the authorities, the owner also contacted George at the workshop to let him know the bad news.  At around 8.30am that morning we posted up a photo of the car on our facebook page appealing to the public to share the post around in the hopes that someone out there would have some information as to the whereabouts of the car.
We were overwhelmed with the amazing response with close to 5000 people sharing the post on to their pages.

We had several sighting calls, but at around 11am the phone rang and Kaiser from QLD had some interesting information for us. A friend of his had sent him photo's of a car parked in the underground carpark of his unit block in nearby Botany. He then informed his friend that the car was reported stolen on Facebook and asked if he could confirm the car was still there. After obtaining the address details from Kaiser we quickly passed them onto the owner who rushed straight there to see if it was in fact his car.

We then called Johnny at JC Racing to check it out, whose workshop is located not far from where the car was sited, and he was quick to respond getting there just as the owner arrived.

To the owners relief it was his car, which he thought was long gone. Amazingly within 3 hours of posting the photo on Facebook the car was back in the owners possession.

He inspected the car finding only minor damage to the door locks and ignition. 'GOT2RN' was then towed into our workshop for a full check over.

We would like to again thank everyone who shared the photo around, without the support from the rotary and car enthusiast  communities this could have been a very different outcome.
