'GRUMBLZ' DATSUN UTE RUNS 7 SECOND ET

Having previously run a fastest pass of 8.70 @154, and knowing his Datsun ute 'WARZON' was capable of even faster times Alex decided to load it on a trailer and bring it all the way down from Queensland to Pac HQ so we could work our magic. Before bringing the ute to us, Alex had spent 3 long years of heartache and a heap of money trying to get the ute to perform the way it should.

Once in the shop the first thing on the agenda was to remount the Turbo and Wastegate and install a new Inlet Manifold.

Next up our in house Auto Electrician Scibbo installed a Microtech LT-16c ecu to look after the engine management and made sure that all the wiring was perfect.

To help Alex make sure he can see everything that's going on while racing Scibbo also installed a 7 inch Microtech LTC Pro Dash

After a run on the dyno and with the engine running just right it was time to install a custom undertray.

So with all of the work completed it was time for Alex to pick up his little Datsun and go racing, but before that could happen there was one last thing to do, change the plates over to 'GRUMBLZ' in memory of his best mate Shaun who sadly lost his battle with cancer in 2012. RIP Shaun.

Shaun had these plates on his RX2 coupe which Alex now owns.

Lined up in the staging lanes Alex was nervous after over 18 months away from racing, but as soon as he staged the car his nerves went away and he was keen to see just how much faster he could go.

Getting out a little slow off the line Alex blazed down the track to a 8.258 @166 taking almost half a second off of his previous pb.
Next run Alex experienced some tyre shake and aborted the run ending his day of racing early, but after talking with the officials we managed to get him another pass but he would need to wait until the end of the night.
After a big burnout, Alex staged and it was time to see what this little red ute was made of, leaving the line hard and straight Alex passed the beams with a time of 7.891 @170! An amazing time considering it's only his 2nd full pass back in the car.

Congratulations Alex on this great achievement, we look forward to working with you to get even faster. Watch this space....

Alex now joins the PAC Racing Elite Leaderboard in 10th place after bumping out fellow Datsun driver and friend Simon Hay. Alex's sights are now set on fellow Queenslander Damien Mckern who is just above him in 9th place with a 7.77 @183.
