UNDER CONSTRUCTION - GEORGE'S NEW RX3 STREET CAR


When it comes to building an RX3 it is getting increasingly difficult to make it stand out from the crowd; after all, it is the most popular early model Mazda out there by far. We certainly see our fair share of RX3s come through the workshop on a regular basis and a large amount of the stand-out examples have been built and owned by Pac Performance co-owner George Rehayem.

WKD13B, PANNIC, PMPGAS and NAGOOD are just a few examples of the iconic RX3s George has built over the years, each with their own individual appeal and flair and this time around, George is looking to top those with his latest Platinum RX3 project.
 
Calling the car a 'refined' version of his last RX3 Coupe NAGOOD, George has gone for a more 'suit-and-tie' look for this latest project, dubbed T090OD (Too Good)





Platinum in build quality and in colour, the very svelte House Of Colour Platinum Silver suits the sedan shape to a tee, allowing the car to stand out from the crowd while not being in your face.

Powering this beast will be one of our signature street series engine combos. Starting out with a Series 6 13B which has been bridge ported, doweled and equipped with race seals. A Haltech PS1000 ECU will take care of the engine management side of things, accompanied by a Haltech logger dash unit.

Fuel of choice will be E-Flex E85 and the car will be running one of the very popular Pac Performance direct OEM replacement fuel tank/triple pump combos 




This tried and tested combo is supported by a custom Garrett ball bearing turbo, a hybrid street spec unit built to Georges exact specs to achieve a very responsive power curve; a perfect balance between street and track duties. Boost will be regulated via a Turbosmart ProGate 50. That iconic rotor rumble will be heard through a 3in exhaust featuring a pair of custom Pac Performance mufflers and there's also a flapped valve fitted for when George wants to cruise really low-key.

A Pac Performance alloy radiator and oil cooler combo will keep the engine cool while a large four inch front mount cooler chills the boosted air. Keeping with the classy look George is going for with the car, all components including these are powdercoated in-house in gloss black.






Backing up the angry 13B is an equally staunch driveline consisting of a Pac-spec 9-second Jatco 3-speed automatic, transferring the power through to a H/duty nine inch differential filled with A Strange centre, Detroit Tru-Trak and Mark Williams billet axles.







Suspension-wise the car has re-set H/Duty rear leafs with Pac Performance adjusters and the front end features one of our adjustable coilover strut conversions to help allow space for the big 19in FR Simmons. Up the back the rear wheel arches and tubs have been stretched to help accommodate the street wheels and slicks. Front-to-back the car has been completely overhauled with new bushes and joints and all arms and components powdercoated where able.

Hauling her up after George has given the throttle a work over is the job of VT Commodore discs and callipers front and back.






Inside the car will be done to the same high standard as the rest of the car, with genuine Recaro buckets fitted; re trimmed in a classy mix of leather and suede and embossed with the Pac rotor logo.

A full ANDRA-spec 6-point 'Moly roll cage has also been fitted to the car with a fully removable front section for street duties.





As the build continues we will endeavour to keep you updated on the progress. A special thanks must go our to our in-house fabricator Ross and his wife Bianca for all the hard work they have put into the car after hours. Both Ross and Bianca will be getting some seat time in the car once completed, on the street and the track and there is already wagers going on who will score the quickest ET. Maybe it should include who has to buy the pies at Harrys afterwards too...
