RODNEY BREAKS INTO THE 6 SECOND ZONE

 In an unfortunate racing incident 6 years ago,  Rodney had lost control of his RX3 mid track before slamming into the wall at Sydney Dragway. Rodney came away with a back injury which meant he would hang up his gloves for a while.  In this down time Rodney has made a full recovery and the car has been  rebuilt. 

Mid 2016, Rodney made the decision to make a return to racing, the covers were lifted off the RX3 and a new set up was installed with the latest running gear.   
Rodney’s RX3 now runs a #BilletbyPac 13b engine featuring our custom billet plates,  and is controlled by a Microtech LT-16c ecu.  It is fitted with Turbosmart Wastegate, the newly released Garrett GTX5533R Gen II Turbocharger.  The driving force behind the engine is a G-Force GF2000 transmission with one of our Rotary to GF2000 Rotary adapters and to show all of the cars incrementals a Motec C127 Dash. 

Since getting back behind the wheel Rodney has raced at a few events with his times gradually getting faster, and his confidence getting higher.  In November last year, Rodney ran a new pb of 7.16 @180 at the Atura Track championship at Sydney Dragway, bettering his previous record of 7.28 @179 that he had run prior to his accident. 

With the data looking promising, all Rodney needed to do was shift all 5 gears under power and the car would run a number.  On his first run off the trailer at Saturdays track championship, Rodney launched with a 1.096 60’ to run a 6.990 @193. On only his 10th pass in the car, since returning to racing, Rodney had cracked  it into the 6 second zone. 

Feeling confident the car would run faster, Rocky was hoping to turn it up for the next round, but unfortunately whilst sitting on the start line, the weather had other plans with a storm setting over Sydney Dragway ending the days racing. 

With the team now preparing for their big Puerto Rico trip next week, the car will now get a full checkover and be packed away in the trailer ready for the Sydney Jamboree on the 18th of March @ Sydney Dragway. Just how much faster is Rodney going to go?  Rodney will be joined by fellow 6 second 13B drivers, Steven Barnett & Anthony Daquino for the Sydney Jamboree so this will be an event not to be missed.
