The journey of John's RX3 began in July 2025, marking the start of an exciting transformation. With a clear vision for the finished car, the project began taking shape, with every stage focused on achieving the perfect balance of performance, presentation and attention to detail.

By October 2025, the RX3 had returned from East Coast Rods and Restorations, sporting its freshly completed paintwork. This was a major milestone in the build, bringing the car one step closer to its final form and setting the foundation for the next stages of assembly.

With the bodywork completed, attention turned to preparing the engine bay. Fresh powder-coated components and carefully finished surfaces created a clean, detailed appearance, ready for the installation of the rotary engine.

Attention to detail continued with the installation of custom carpeting beneath the bonnet. This finishing touch added another level of refinement, complementing the presentation of the engine bay.

One of the most exciting stages of the project was the installation of the 13B rotary engine. With the engine bay prepared, the heart of the RX3 was finally fitted into place, marking another major step towards completing the build.

The interior received the same level of attention as the exterior and engine bay, with X-Trim Motor Trimming delivering a beautifully finished custom cabin.

A pair of Recaro Sportster CS front seats takes centre stage, complemented by a custom rear seat and door cards, all featuring distinctive tartan upholstery.

The combination of modern sports seats and classic-inspired trim gives the RX3 a unique interior that perfectly complements the character of the car.

The attention to detail throughout the build certainly paid off, with John Chillari taking home the Best Rotary Engine Bay award for SPRFLY.

A fantastic achievement and a reflection of the craftsmanship, presentation and dedication invested in bringing this RX3 to life.

From the early stages of the build in July 2025 to the finished product, John's RX3 has undergone an incredible transformation.

With its stunning paintwork, custom tartan interior, meticulously presented engine bay and 13B rotary powerplant, SPRFLY brings together classic Mazda styling and modern performance.

A standout build and another impressive addition to the PAC Performance Customer Cars collection.

From extensive bodywork and custom rear-end modifications to a beautifully presented turbocharged rotary engine, this RX3 has received serious attention from top to bottom.

With its widened rear arches, massive rear rubber, carefully prepared chassis and immaculate white engine bay, every stage of this build reflects the level of craftsmanship and attention to detail that goes into a project of this calibre.

The transformation involved extensive fabrication, body preparation, mechanical assembly and countless hours bringing all the pieces together.

And the result? One seriously tough RX3 that looks just as impressive underneath as it does under the bonnet!
